Nigerian pastor mocks Nigeria's Olympic medal records, check out what he said – details
The Tokyo Olympics has been a great game
so far, but many seem to be too expectant and therefore disappointed at the
performance of their countries. This is the case of Reno Omokri, he became so disanointed
he had to publicly shame his home country.
A United Kingdom based Nigerian pastor
has taken to his official Twitter account to make mockery of Nigeria’s Olympic
medal records, says a country as little as San Marino has had two medals while Nigeria
despite claiming to be the giant of Africa with over 205 million people have
had no medals in the Olympics.
According to the popular Pastor, the
fact that a country as little as San Marino with only about 33,00 people in it
could get to the Olympics and get two medals should be a shame on Nigeria who
with over 205 million people have not been able to get even one medal from the Olympics.
With almost a million followers on Twitter,
Reno Omokri who has been preaching against failure, giving up and poverty
shared this sad tweet. It has got his followers talking, especially those who
are also of Nigerian born and could relate to what he was driving at.
In relating to the fat that size does
not matter, but consistency and deliberate effort does, Reno Omokri claimed
that Nigeria is only claiming to be the giant of Africa because in reality it
has nothing to show for it. He said Nigeria is only a giant appetite without a
giant accomplishment.
Reno Omokri made this statement a few
moments ago on his verified Twitter handle, calling his home country a giant disappointment.
“Size is only as good as what you do with it. San Marino, a
nation with only 33,000 people, has won 2 medals. Nigeria, a nation with 205
million people, has won none. Are we the giant of Africa? A giant appetite
without giant accomplishments is a giant disappointment.”
In my opinion, it is unnecessary to use
Nigeria as an example in trying to educate the world that the size of a nation
does not matter if they really want to make an accomplishment, but
determination, preparation and deliberate effort being invested would yield
great accomplishments.
Nigeria may not have had great results
in the ongoing Olympics or even the ones before, but they have been consistent
in trying, and that is something worthy of note because they are other
countries who have not gone as far as Nigeria has.
