Presidential Advisory Attacks Attorney-General Over Interrogation of Magu

Presidential Advisory Blasts Attorney-General Over Interrogation of Magu

Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, has shown its distaste in the move by the Attorney-General of the Federation to bring down the acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
This was made known while he was clearing the air abo0ut the alleged statement by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, which was released by one of its members, Prof Femi Odekunle, after the news of the interrogation of Magu got to him.

According to the chairman Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Sagay, the statement was a personal one and it, in no way tells of the view of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, nor other of its members.
The chairman after clearing the air, faced the Attorney-General with words, accusing him of not being active nor effective in the fight against corruption. He also stated that the Attorney-General was using his closeness and supposed loyalty to the president for personal gains.
Speaking about the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC view of the matter, he reminded the president that Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC acting chairman, has brought about many fights against anti-graft corruption practices and has done so much in a short while.

The chairman obviously shows support for the EFCC boss, even after trying to defend the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC of not being in defense of Ibrahim Magu, in his words, he said;
“The position of PACAC is that while Magu, or any official of whatever status, must be nailed if found to be corrupt, the President must be careful not to shoot its anti-corruption fight /modest achievements in the foot, and not to forget that EFCC under Magu has been the administration’s anti-corruption poster-face”.
He further stated;
“It may not be contestable that Malami has been exploiting his alleged loyalty and closeness to the President for his personal /power bloc agenda. For, to the best of PACAC’s knowledge and observations, Malami has not manifested any genuine commitment to the anti-corruption fight.”
