Heavy Protest in Ondo As APC Members Reject National Decision for Primaries

The protesters are majorly those in top offices in the state’s All Progressive Congress, APC party. They are protesting in rejection to the decision by the national level of the party to have an indirect primary election in the primary election of the party slated for the 20th of July 2020.
The protest is pronounced heavy as about eleven (11) among all the gubernatorial aspirants in the All Progressive Congress, APC are also rejecting the decision for indirect primaries.
The leaders of the protest Rotimi Ogunleye and Barrister Segun Ogodo maintained that, the protest was to show rejection and dissatisfaction to the decision from the national level to have an indirect primary come the 20th of July 2020.
They preferred the direct primary, to them, this because the Ondo state All progressive Congress, APC is made up of two (2) different factions. Stating also that these factions have different executives.
They said it would be biased to have an indirect primary done, knowing about the two different factions.
A statement from the leaders of the protest, Rotimi Ogunleye and Barrister Segun Ogodo reads;
“all the APC members want direct primary because there were two parallel executives, saying for the sake of equity, the wish of the majority of members should be respected. Without equity the whole process would be thwarted.”
