PDP Ready To Welcome Godwin Obaseki | Will PDP Give Obaseki Their For Edo 2020?
The
People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has revealed that the recently disqualified
governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki is more than welcomed to join the party. The
party however stated that it would not give assurance of running in the 2020
Edo state gubernatorial race.
However,
the People’s Democratic Party’s national chairman, Uche Secondus stated that the
All Progressive Congress disqualifying one of their own after accepting him the
way he was in 2016 is not a way to treat a fellow member.
He
stated that the PDP is ready and willing to accept anyone who is ready to join
the party, but he cannot decide if Godwin Obaseki would be given the party’s
flag to bear in the 2020 guber race.
All
eyes are affixed at Adams Oshiomole for the disqualification of the governor of
Edo state because of their tussle. Many APC leaders in the state have aired
their views blaming Oshiomole. One of which is the former national chairman of
the party, Chief John Oyegun.
The
fight is not yet over as the PDP national chairman said he is sure that the
People’s Democratic Party would win the coming Edo state 2020 gubernatorial
election.
The Punch reporeted that in an interview with the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus through a phone call made the statement below,
Secondus said, “He is a sitting governor who ought not to be treated that way. If he contested four years ago and was allowed to fly the flag of the party, what has changed between then and now?” he asked.“For now, we are not against anyone who wants to join us. Our doors are open and if he decides to join us as an individual, we will welcome him. That’s the only thing I can say for now,” he stated.
