Nigerian Politicians Are Using Expensive N95 Face Masks While Health Workers Use Regular Face Masks

The situation in Nigeria may be a one too difficult to correct, the selfish and “I DON’T CARE” attitude being displayed by politicians and other top officials in the present government could sink the country more into the chaos she is already dealing with.

It is a pity that in a country as big and rich like Nigeria, the health workers are making use of the regular face mask, even as they are the ones closest to the Covid-19 patients in isolation centers and hospitals.

The politicians, task forces and other government leaders are in no way prone to be infected use the N95 expensive face masks which are supposed to be used by those in the forefront.

The regular face mask is not as active as the N95 face masks and is therefore not advised to be used by health workers, especially those in direct contact with Covid-19 patients. The health workers who deal directly with the infected patients are supposed to be well protected with the most protective and active equipment and not the regular face masks used on the streets.

It was  revealed by a medical expert (name withheld) who works with the Abuja National Hospital in an interview by Reverend Father Church of the Holy Trinity Catholic church on a Sunday AIT morning show that the doctors and nurses use the regular face masks in the hospital while politicians who do not even go close to the Covid-19 patients waste the N95 masks on themselves.

This matter should be looked into by the authorities in charge of the health of those work closely with the Covid-19 infected patients.

The recent hike in the number of infected health workers could be controlled or lessened if the health workers get some appropriate gears to protect themselves with.

If the country really cares for those taking care of the Covid-19 patients, then proper  face masks would be a good point to start from.
