President Buhari appointment of dead man to head a government agency gets world attention

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari's appointment of a deceased man to rule a government agency has gotten the attention of the world as the United Kingdom papers and websites reported the incident.

Recall that Nigeria's President Mohammadu Buhari had appointed one late MP Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru who died and was buried in February 2020. The president in his latest appointments, appointed the deceased to head the Federal Character Commission.

The appointment was read to the hearing of the senate in a sitting to check the list of appointments handed out to the house by President Buhari. Many international newspapers and news sites have taken a report of the appointment to the world, especially The Times, one of UK's Biggest Newspaper.

One of the report from an internationally recognized News Website reads,

"Nigeria’s ageing leader has appointed a dead man to a senior government post — and not for the first time.  President Buhari, 77, who was once compelled to deny rumours of his own demise and replacement with a clone, approved a candidate whose funeral took place in February.  The appointment of the late MP Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru to the Federal Character Commission emerged when a letter of confirmation from President Buhari was read to the Senate.  Applications were quickly reopened after journalists pointed out that Mr Okwuru was not available to take up the position due to his death at the age of 59"

There have been also reactions from Nigerians about the misleading appointment made by the president. Many may wonder how the list for passed all his aids without any of them noticing the error.
