Wickedness: Man Pours Hot Water on Breast of His Breastfeeding Wife Has Been Remanded - Details

The hike in the wickedness of man is always on the rise, there has never been a time where there was recorded a decline in the wickedness of humans. There is no day you turn on the Tv and Radio and only get god news out of it.

The recent wickedness is even pathetic, the story of an Enugu man and the wickedness he did to his nursing wife and not even giving a care, if it would affect his new born baby.

This happened in the Enugu South Local Government of Enugu State, Nigeria. A man, Opoku Emmanuel has been remanded for allegedly pouring hot water on the breast of his breastfeeding wife, his wife who just gave birth at the time of the incident was still breastfeeding the baby.

A magistrate court sitting in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State, remanded the culprit after he was granted bail earlier on.

Emmanuel poured hot water on the breasts of his wife, causing her grievous skin burns and injuries, not caring if the health of the baby would be at stake if the baby does not get adequate breast mike from the mother.

Opoku was charged with assault occasioning grievous skin related harm on his breastfeeding wife, a woman who had just suffered her way out of the labor room. (one may wonder what on earth she must have done to be out under such suffering again).

The sheet Emmanuel was charged with reads, No: MES/ 226 c/ 20, Mr. Opoku unlawfully poured hot water on Mrs. Opoku’s two breasts, which caused her grievous bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 290 of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria, 2004.

The remanding of Emmanuel Opoku was brought about by the actions of a team of Women Aid Collective, WACOL and other group of lawyers, all headed by the WACOL’s Head of Legal Unit, Mrs Ijeoma Ezeude, Onyeonagu and Dr. Nick Agbo, this was also aided by the police prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Otibe, who all stood against the bail application for EMMANUEL Opoku after causing so much pain and harm to his nursing wife.

The refusal of the bail application by the magistrate court was based in public interest. Stating that he was still harmful to the community and even his family. It was not revealed why he poured the hot water on the wife’s body causing such pain and harm.

My opinion, there is no offence that demands for such act, even if he caught her with another man (which is very unlikely, owing to the fact that she had just put to birth), it is not a criterion for him to commit such wickedness. The wicked must face the wrath of the law, no matter how damning it is.
